This just rock.
I just got this and I'm very happy with it.The price was a real bargain for the features of the player. The UI is very slick and I love the FM transmitter.
The audio quality is also quite good and the package was full of accessory. (Review by Peter)
A good media player that can decode almost anything.
I bought this player some week ago and I'm very pleased with it.
The item arrived quite fast, around 2 weeks. The screen is very good and the player video playback is top notch,I can throw anything inside and it will play it without problems.
It's aimed mostly at video playback,so don't buy it if you are looking for a music player, the music interface is not so good. (Review by Jack)

Wondering about the fate of the MagicJack femtocell now that its promised second quarter launch window has passed? So was Computerworld, and what it found out isn't exactly promising for the as-seen-on-TV company. According to a MagicJack spokesperson, it's taken longer than expected to finish the software and patents associated with the product, which means it still hasn't even been able to submit the device to the FCC for approval. The company says the software should be done within two weeks, however, but that still means a wait time of several more months while the FCC does its thing. Of course, that's to say nothing of the many legal problems facing the device, which MagicJack is unsurprisingly not commenting on -- although it insists the device will be available "this year.
This one's been kicking around the interwebs for a few weeks now, but it has managed to grow into something of a beast during that period. Frankly, we couldn't think of less fitting way to send the gloriousNexus One out than to completely deface it and ruin what Google has worked so hard to perfect. But regardless of what we think, that's exactly what has happened here. One rolle3k over at xda developersclearly has a masochistic gene or two planted inside of his skull, but at least his APK doesn't require your N1 to be rooted before providing you access to a TouchWiz user interface. Feel free to hit the source if you're up for seeing what you've been missing out on, but only if you literally cannot think of a single better thing to do with your time.

If you thought that Adobe Flash would have slowly died with the coming of HTML5 and Apple stance toward it,you are wrong. First the announcement from Google to natively support flash in its Chrome browser and now we see the first see of counter attack from Adobe itself.Adobe is working very hard to optimize their flash player so that it will outperform HTML5 now that it's becoming a menace. The following video show some benchmark running on the last beta flash player outperforming by a great margin HTML5. On my personal opinion, even if HTML5 would be faster than Flash,Flash is here to stay. Even now most website using Flash could be rewritten in simple HTML + Javascript,so why do you think they are using Flash instead? The reason is simple,Flash make designing animation and other cool effect easy and also come with an IDE to further simplify this. So why should things change with HTML5?
Oh,by the way,at the end of the video they run the benchmark on the Iphone with HMTL5 and it's so slow to be unbearable.Good Luck Ipad owners.... :)
[MWC 2010 Mobile Focus] Foxconn, a powerful Taiwanese contract manufacturer, is set to debut a $100 Android tablet in China. Of course, $100 is incredibly cheap and at that price you can’t expect to have a build quality comparable to an iPad: The device is made of cheap plastic, and the 800x600 (I’m eyeballing here) display is a little fuzzy, but it runs Android apps. I was not able to test the web browsing because there was no internet connection, so I would stay cautious until I can actually see at least what browsing looks like. That said, for $100, it’s so cheap that some would just buy one to see how it’s like. The Tablet was demonstrated by Marvell, the company behind the Tablet’s processor. My take is that if someone can turn this into a fancy remote, I might pay for that.
DoCoMo, the Japanese mobile phone operator, has just showcased at MWC 2010 a prototype of eye-contolled earphones that works as remote for your mp3 player.
The earphones works by detecting electrooculograms your brain sends out when you move your eyes.
To play, pause, skip tracks or change the volume, you have to roll your eyes or shift them side to side or up and down.
Previous systems worked detecting eye movement with a camera but since this one detect some electric signal in your brain,it even works with your eyes closed.
No word as yet as to when the system will be commercially available
At the end of the press conference Steve Ballmer confirmed that altought at the moment they don't have Adobe Flash support in their platform, they have nothing against Adobe Flash, they are just waiting for Adobe help to implement it.
Microsoft today officially unveiled the the next generation of Windows mobile : Windows Phone 7. This is a new mobile OS written from scratch from Microsoft to create a new unique mobile experience. It is largely based around the Zune HD concept, and in fact uses a chromeless(every appilication is always full screen) with tiles all over the place. Have a look at the demo .
St-Ericsson,new joint venture between ST-NXP Wireless and Ericsson Mobile Platform just announced the availability of their smartphone platform U8500. This platform is currently the most powerful available in the market now and surpass by a lot its competitor like Texas Instruments OMAP3(unless OMAP4 is ready, but there hasn't been any demo yet).
After Nvida Tegra,a new contender is entering the pmp market at full force, and couldn't be a bigger one.
I'm talking of ARM,which is licensing one after another its Mali GPU capable of Full HD video Decoding and Encoding,3D up to 15M polygons, everything at extremely low power.
Since it is being licensed to almost every chipmaker(21 licenses counting now),the next generation of pmp coming this year is sure to be a big jump ahead in technology.
Following I made a collection of demos of the MALI GPU.
We just got this player and I'm going to do a brief review. If there will be some significant update in the future I will try to update it.
First let's see what has Teclast made to make this player "unique" and then later we will discuss if this is good or bad.
Following is a diagram of the player hardware:
As you can see we have the usual Rockchip main unit, followed by 2 Wolfson DAC WM8740,1 for each channel, one Burr Brown(now acquired by Texas Instruments ) OPAMP OPA2604 amplifier and one NXP TDA1308 headphone amplifier.
Now let's analyze the components.
Rockchip RK2806 is a chip of last generation capable to decode HD 720P movies.I don't know much about this as it is quite new.Since it is quite new the software as usual in not rock solid and there are some issues that will be probably fixed with the following firmware.
This is one of the T51 innovations. The DAC in question sports a fantastic 120DB SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio) and 104DB THD (Total Harmonic Distorsion) .Too good to be true?Yes in fact, there is the catch.
What's the problem? This DAC and the OPAMP are made for home appliace, not for portable use, and they use lots of power.
Proof is that the player can last barely 10 hour of audio playback of normal mp3!
Furthermore Teclast engineer in all their smartness used the BurrBrown OPAMP,another power hungry component,to drive the Headphone amplifier, while this component could have been skipped and the Headphone amp drove directly from the DAC with much longer playback time.
The NXP Headphone amp is in fact the only wise choise in my opinion.
Now after having analyzed the hardware let's go on with the review.
SCREEN
The screen is a 3.5'' HVGA LCD with capacitive touchscreen.Being capacitive it's quite responsive, the color reproduction is quite good, but the viewing angle is quite poor(see the video).
Also since it is HVGA (480x320) it mean it is not true 16:9,so wide screen videos will have the black bars.
SOFTWARE
Here start the bad things. The software is quite preliminary, could almost be called "beta".
There are bugs everywhere and the system even hang sometimes.
The UI is a major step back from T50 and I hope it will be changed very soon. The current UI seem done by a kid on the effect of heavy drugs. Please Teclast kill that damn designer and hire someone older than 5 years for your GUI.
VIDEO PLAYBACK
Video playback was very good.It played normal resolution video without problems.
It did have lip sync problem on few video with high bitrate and in some with AC3 audio. But it may be because of the relatively new software.
AUDIO PLAYBACK
The audio playback was tested with a pair of Shure SE530,since it doesn't make sense buy this kind of player with these specifications and use it with budget or even middle priced earphones.
We compared the T51 with one our favorites: MEIZU M6 SP.
HIGHS
Very detailed and warm.Still I prefer the neutral, non colored highs of M6.
MIDS
Rich of details, very good.Better than M6 in this aspect.
BASS
Deep and powerful bass. Here too I prefer the M6 punchy bass, but it's a matter of taste
OVERALL
Good and large sound field,no background noise and good channel separation.
Can't name a real winner between this and the M6,it's a matter of taste and music genre you listen.
VERDICT
Altough the software is in his early stage and it may be soon to judge, knowing Teclast the situation won't change much in the future. They follow always the same pattern(and the current firmware is just proof of it),and they will just remove the major bug and add some minor feature.
I think that from an audiophile point of view,it still lack too many "must have" features, like gapless,id3 tag for FLAC,APE,a serious EQ,etc
And it can't appeal normal users too, because the battery life is really poor.
There isn't a big audio quality difference between this and similar high end audio players, and the enormous difference in software quality and features make it hard to advice the purchase of T51.
If the player had a much lower price, following the chinese market trend it may be an interesting player, but for now it is priced quite high clashing with high end players.
We are selling our sample here .We will stock the player if there is request, but I doubt.
