iWonder $100 Tablet Powered by Marvell

[MWC 2010 Mobile Focus] Foxconn, a powerful Taiwanese contract manufacturer, is set to debut a $100 Android tablet in China. Of course, $100 is incredibly cheap and at that price you can’t expect to have a build quality comparable to an iPad: The device is made of cheap plastic, and the 800x600 (I’m eyeballing here) display is a little fuzzy, but it runs Android apps. I was not able to test the web browsing because there was no internet connection, so I would stay cautious until I can actually see at least what browsing looks like. That said, for $100, it’s so cheap that some would just buy one to see how it’s like. The Tablet was demonstrated by Marvell, the company behind the Tablet’s processor. My take is that if someone can turn this into a fancy remote, I might pay for that.

Eye-control mp3 players via your earphone

Thursday, February 18, 2010 11:05:03 AM CET

DoCoMo, the Japanese mobile phone operator, has just showcased at MWC 2010 a prototype of eye-contolled earphones that works as remote for your mp3 player.

The earphones  works by detecting electrooculograms your brain sends out when you move your eyes.

To play, pause, skip tracks or change the volume, you have to roll your eyes or shift them side to side or up and down.

Previous systems worked detecting eye movement with a camera but since this one detect some electric signal in your brain,it even works with your eyes closed.

No word as yet as to when the system will be commercially available

Friday, October 30, 2009 11:31:28 PM CET

After Nvida Tegra,a new contender is entering the pmp market at full force, and couldn't be a bigger one.

I'm talking of ARM,which is licensing one after another its Mali GPU capable of Full HD video Decoding and Encoding,3D up to 15M polygons, everything at extremely low power.

Since it is being licensed to almost every chipmaker(21 licenses counting now),the next generation of pmp coming this year is sure to be a big jump ahead in technology.

Following I made a collection of demos of the MALI GPU.
