Wondering about the fate of the MagicJack femtocell now that its promised second quarter launch window has passed? So was Computerworld, and what it found out isn't exactly promising for the as-seen-on-TV company. According to a MagicJack spokesperson, it's taken longer than expected to finish the software and patents associated with the product, which means it still hasn't even been able to submit the device to the FCC for approval. The company says the software should be done within two weeks, however, but that still means a wait time of several more months while the FCC does its thing. Of course, that's to say nothing of the many legal problems facing the device, which MagicJack is unsurprisingly not commenting on -- although it insists the device will be available "this year.

This one's been kicking around the interwebs for a few weeks now, but it has managed to grow into something of a beast during that period. Frankly, we couldn't think of less fitting way to send the gloriousNexus One out than to completely deface it and ruin what Google has worked so hard to perfect. But regardless of what we think, that's exactly what has happened here. One rolle3k over at xda developersclearly has a masochistic gene or two planted inside of his skull, but at least his APK doesn't require your N1 to be rooted before providing you access to a TouchWiz user interface. Feel free to hit the source if you're up for seeing what you've been missing out on, but only if you literally cannot think of a single better thing to do with your time.

Flash 10.1 beat HTML5 in the latest tests

Friday, April 2, 2010 3:18:46 PM CEST

If you thought that Adobe Flash would have slowly died with the coming of HTML5 and Apple stance toward it,you are wrong.
First the announcement from Google to natively support flash in its Chrome browser and now we see the first see of counter attack from Adobe itself.Adobe is working very hard to optimize their flash player so that it will outperform HTML5 now that it's becoming a menace.
The following video show some benchmark running on the last beta flash player outperforming by a great margin HTML5.
On my personal opinion, even if HTML5 would be faster than Flash,Flash is here to stay.
Even now most website using Flash could be rewritten in simple HTML + Javascript,so why do you think they are using Flash instead?
The reason is simple,Flash make designing animation and other cool effect easy and also come with an IDE to further simplify this.
So why should things change with HTML5?

Oh,by the way,at the end of the video they run the benchmark on the Iphone with HMTL5 and it's so slow to be unbearable.Good Luck Ipad owners.... :)

Foxconn iWonder $100 Tablet Powered by Marvell

Thursday, February 18, 2010 11:35:50 AM CET

iWonder $100 Tablet Powered by Marvell

[MWC 2010 Mobile Focus] Foxconn, a powerful Taiwanese contract manufacturer, is set to debut a $100 Android tablet in China. Of course, $100 is incredibly cheap and at that price you can’t expect to have a build quality comparable to an iPad: The device is made of cheap plastic, and the 800x600 (I’m eyeballing here) display is a little fuzzy, but it runs Android apps. I was not able to test the web browsing because there was no internet connection, so I would stay cautious until I can actually see at least what browsing looks like. That said, for $100, it’s so cheap that some would just buy one to see how it’s like. The Tablet was demonstrated by Marvell, the company behind the Tablet’s processor. My take is that if someone can turn this into a fancy remote, I might pay for that.

Eye-control mp3 players via your earphone

Thursday, February 18, 2010 11:05:03 AM CET

DoCoMo, the Japanese mobile phone operator, has just showcased at MWC 2010 a prototype of eye-contolled earphones that works as remote for your mp3 player.

The earphones  works by detecting electrooculograms your brain sends out when you move your eyes.

To play, pause, skip tracks or change the volume, you have to roll your eyes or shift them side to side or up and down.

Previous systems worked detecting eye movement with a camera but since this one detect some electric signal in your brain,it even works with your eyes closed.

No word as yet as to when the system will be commercially available

What does await us in the pmp market?Let's have a look

Friday, October 30, 2009 11:31:28 PM CET

After Nvida Tegra,a new contender is entering the pmp market at full force, and couldn't be a bigger one.

I'm talking of ARM,which is licensing one after another its Mali GPU capable of Full HD video Decoding and Encoding,3D up to 15M polygons, everything at extremely low power.

Since it is being licensed to almost every chipmaker(21 licenses counting now),the next generation of pmp coming this year is sure to be a big jump ahead in technology.

Following I made a collection of demos of the MALI GPU.
